As a continuation of their Hidden Killer Campaign, the HSE, in partnership with the training industry, is calling for training course providers to pledge free asbestos awareness training hours in the hope of hitting a target of 4,000. The poignant target highlighting the estimated 4,000 deaths each year that are attributed to asbestos.

The training, aimed at tradesmen such as joiners, electricians and plumbers, will be available throughout October and November.

The HSE’s Hidden Killer Campaign looks to help tradesmen to understand that asbestos exposure is not just an historical problem and we all must be aware that around half a million non domestic premises still contain it. Through the free training pledge, tradesmen will be able to find out exactly what they need to do to protect themselves and hopefully stop asbestos claiming another generation.
